Roses for Norway
Dear blacksmiths of the Ring, On November 12th and 13th we would like to make roses for Norway in our smith’s workshop. But we cannot do that alone. We would like to invite you to contribute to this good initiative of the blacksmiths in Oslo. Oslo’s blacksmiths are building a sculpture of forged roses made by smiths from all over the world. To honour the victims of the unimaginable violence in Oslo July 22nd. We’ll start on Saturday November 12th at 8.30 am in our workshop Mondra Opleidingen BV, Ambachtsweg 38, 6673 DK Andelst, the Netherlands. If you like joining us in this good initiative, let us know as soon as possible. The only financial support we ask is for lunch. Dear friends! Rennfeuersymposium 2011 in Lille
It looks like we are going to have wonderful symposium. We have been offered additional help by the people in charge of the museum, so things are turning out very nicely. We are really looking forward to having a fruitful symposium, where everyone will learn a lot, and have lots of fun. The Open Air Museum of Villeneuve D'Ascq is a place where old flammish houses have been relocated. Some houses are used by craftsmen, among which there are blacksmiths. The site is managed by Espace Naturel Lille MГ©tropole. We have set up here a group of people interested in iron making. Some are former metallurgists, some are archeologists, some are bloomery smelters. We are all trying to write up the history of iron making and trading in the area by crossing the results of our experiments and studies. Some will be present at the symposium. As we have written before, we want to focus this edition on refining blooms to produce forgeable iron and steel. It is a great opportunity for sharing and experimenting. An international FESTIVAL AND EXHIBITION - a must to visit!

People come again and again to feel this wonderful atmosphere of friendship, soak in the aura of happiness of being together, smiths come again to feel it once again. We will have master classes, conference, excursions, parties, 2 days of forge in and the result will be a monumental sculpture.. There is a lot to tell . Better to see and participate once... Traditional international blacksmith festival that took place this year in May had a wide resonance in mass media, was highly evaluated by the guests and participants of the festival, who categorized it as an unprecedented event and one of the best blacksmith meetings in last 2 years in the Eastern Europe. With the aim of popularization of blacksmith art in Ukraine and outside the country we gladly announce: 5th International Blacksmith Festival-2007 and exhibition in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine will take place on May 4-6, 2007. |
